Chapter Nineteen

If it wasn’t for Seth’s little sister, I’d probably have four cocks buried in my cunt right now. The girl is a walking, talking ball of endless energy, and she wants to instantly be taught every last thing about how nagi live. Right now. “So, do we live forever?” she asks, her gaze still bright as she clasps her third hot chocolate. The first was supposed to be enough to make her feel sleepy, according to her brother. He just shrugged at me when she asked for a second, then a third.

“We’re not immortals,” I tell her. “However, we do have an increased life-span. Our aging process is different from humans. It’s slower.”

“So how long am I going to live, then?”

“A long time,” Seth cuts in, giving her a pointed look. “I’m sure Ava’s looking forward to getting some rest tonight, Ashley. Maybe it’s time we call it?”

She frowns at him, glances at me and sighs. “Okay, sure. Where’s my stuff?”

“I put it in our room,” he tells her, taking the mug out of her hands.

She gets up. “I suppose we’ll have time to talk tomorrow and everything.”

I nod, though I’m immediately planning on finding her a mentor within the pit. Someone who’ll enjoy her endless parade of questions. Maybe a younger naga who might distract her a bit.

She walks to the living room door and turns. “Are you coming?”

Seth smiles tightly. “I’ll be up in a bit.”

For a second I’m certain she’s not going to leave without him. Then she sighs and shuffles out of the room, muttering under her breath. He closes the door properly and looks at Alden who’s standing close to it, leaning against the wall.

“Are we ready?” he asks, gazing at me with hungry eyes.

“I don’t think so,” Con says, from the couch across from me. He blows out a breath. “I’m ready to bond with Alden, but neither of us know you, Seth. You’re a complete stranger.”

Damn. I knew that was going to come up. My heart sinks. I’m going to be going through this ready for mating torture for a while then. There’s no quick way for them to get to know each other and one thing Con and Alden have in common is how stubborn they both are.

“If it wasn’t for Seth, I’d still be agonizing over who to take as my true mate,” I remind them.

“We’re thankful for that,” Alden says. “But Con is right. We don’t know this guy.”

“I’m your queen, and I chose him,” I try another tact, already knowing it’s useless.

“Yes, you’re our queen. We would do anything to protect you,” Alden tells me quietly. “That includes killing a true mate if he’s found to be a threat.”

I bite down on my initial response.
